☕Join us for the next Virtual Coffee on the topic of: Balancing Consumer Rights and Economic Incentives: The Right to Repair and Circular Economy in India
The right to repair in India, if enacted, could go a long way in promoting a sustainable and efficient circular economy, as it empowers consumers to extend the lifespan of their products and reduces waste.
However, implementing that legislation on the right to repair (R2R), once promulgated, faces challenges due to the potential infringement on intellectual property rights and the necessity to delicately balance consumer interests with the incentives for innovation and investment by manufacturers. Policymakers must carefully consider the economic implications and legal framework surrounding the R2R to create a system that encourages competition, fosters sustainable practices, and maximizes consumer welfare while minimizing unintended consequences.
